What is Day Out With Thomas™?

Day Out With Thomas™ is a family event that offers aspiring engineers and their families the unique opportunity to take a ride with the classic storybook engine, Thomas the Tank Engine™, at regional heritage railroads across the country.

Who is Thomas the Tank Engine?

Since Thomas the Tank Engine left the depot more than 70 years ago, this Really Useful Engine and his Island of Sodor friends have chugged their way into the hearts of preschoolers and grownups worldwide. Based on The Railway Series of classic stories authored by a father who loved trains and wanted a shared experience with his son, Thomas & Friends™ is a rite of passage that inspires the imagination while teaching life lessons of friendship, exploration and cooperation.

What are the appropriate ages for Day Out With Thomas?

Day Out With Thomas is a family event that welcomes passengers of all ages.

Will Thomas the Tank Engine be there?

Thomas the Tank Engine has traveled all the way from the Island of Sodor and has arrived Right on Time to take a ride with you and your family.

Will Sir Topham Hatt be there?

Yes, Sir Topham Hatt will take time away from his busy schedule as Controller of the Railway on the Island of Sodor to meet and take pictures with guests.

How much are tickets?

Tickets are $19 for general admission. There is an additional $2 charge for peak departure times. Those peak times are 9:45am, 10:30am, 11:15am, and 12:00pm. Infants (Under 2) riding in a parrent's lap do not need a ticket. Tickets include access to the event site and a single train ride behind Thomas! Discounts for children and seniors are not available for this event.

Are there more affordable tickets available?

Day Out with Thomas is premium event hosted in partnership with Mattel, Inc. Ticket fees are set by Mattel Inc. and TicketWeb. If Day Out with Thomas is not within your family's budget, please consider other train rides offered by the LM&M Railroad. The LM&M Railroad hosts other train rides and events year-round, some for as low as $5 per ticket!

How do I purchase tickets?

Tickets are only available through TicketWeb: CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS or call 1-866-468-3399. Tickets are not available for advance purchase in the LM&M Railroad's ticket office. Walk-up tickets will only be available for purchase on the day of departure. Walk-up tickets will incur a $1.00 per ticket fee.

Who needs tickets?

Tickets are required for guests ages two and up.

What is included in the ticket price?

A ticket for Day Out With Thomas includes the train ride with Thomas the Tank Engine, as well as a variety of Thomas & Friends themed entertainment, including Storytelling and Video Viewing, Temporary Tattoos of Island of Sodor friends, and an Imagination Station and more. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet Sir Topham Hatt, the Controller of the Railway on the Island of Sodor.

How will I receive my tickets?

If purchased three weeks or more in advance of the event, guests will receive their tickets in the mail. Guests that purchase tickets closer to the event date can pick up their tickets at Will Call the day of the event.

Are there any refunds?

There will be no refunds or exchanges.

Do you recommend purchasing tickets in advance?

YES! Due to the popularity of Day Out With Thomas, advance ticket purchase is highly recommended. It is not uncommon for events to sell out. When purchasing tickets you will be asked to select a specific date and time for your ride with Thomas. Your ticket is valid only for that date and for the train ride at that specific time. However, please feel free to arrive at the railroad earlier than your train ride time, because there are many other activities your family can enjoy at the event site!

Is there parking available on site?

No. On-street and off-street parking options are available throughout downtown Lebanon.

Is there an additional cost for parking?

Free city-owned parking lots are available two blocks away from the railroad. Local property owners will be charging for parking in adjacent privately owned lots.

What times do trains depart?

9:45am, 10:30am, 11:15am, 12:00pm, 12:45pm, 1:30pm, 2:15pm, 3:00pm, & 3:45pm

What time is the event site open?

9:15am-3:45pm (Soft close begins at 3:30. We recommend passengers on the 3:45pm train visit the event site before the train ride.)

When should we arrive for our train ride with Thomas?

It is recommended that guests arrive at the event at least 45 minutes before their scheduled departure. Feel free to come as early as you’d like to enjoy all of the other activities before your train ride! However, please note that the event site does not open until 9:15am! Soft close begins at 4:30. We recommend passengers on the 3:45pm train visit the event site before the train ride.

Is there assigned seating on the train?

Tickets are assigned by time. Guests must be together during boarding if they wish to sit together on the train.

How long is the train ride?

20-25 minutes

Day Out with Thomas features a shortened train ride ideal for toddlers. If you would like a longer train ride, please consider other standard train rides offered by the LM&M Railroad.

Are you limited to just one train ride?

Yes. There is one train ride per ticket.

What if there is inclement weather?

Day Out With Thomas events take place rain or shine.

Are cameras allowed?

Absolutely! Guests are encouraged to capture their Day Out With Thomas memories for their photo albums and to share online. Don’t forget to tag your photos with the hashtag #DayOutWithThomas!

Day Out With Thomas is a family event that welcomes guests of all ages.

Is the event handicap accessible?

No. Due to the historic nature of our equipment, the train is not handicapped accessible. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Are pets allowed?

No pets are allowed at Day Out with Thomas. Service animals are always welcomed in compliance with ADA regulations.

Comfort animals are not considered service animals by the LM&M Railroad without proper documentation. This is for your safety and the safety of our other passengers. The train is a loud, crowded, and confined space. It is not an atmosphere most animals are comfortable in for extended periods of time. Passengers with animals creating a disturbance will be asked to leave. We love animals, but not all our customers, especially young children, do. We want to create a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere for everyone.
